Senior Operations Analyst, Security Configuration Management

The Team
As part of Scotiabank’s Information Security & Controls (IS&C) department, the Security Configuration Management (SCM) team is responsible for protecting the bank’s assets by ensuring that all the environments are configured to the bank’s standards.


The role
The Senior Operations Analyst will provide guidance to business lines to ensure design, development and implementation of projects and initiatives are in accordance with the Bank’s Information Security Standards and in compliance with industry regulations. You will perform all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information systems assets including protecting systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction by scanning servers and databases for compliance.


Is this role right for you?

  • You possess hands-on experience onboarding, troubleshooting and scanning servers/databases across various lines of business
  • Automate configuration auditing, change monitoring and configuration compliance processes.
  • Provide visibility and assurance of system configurations and the compliance impact of configuration changes.
  • Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure scanning of servers/database are in compliance.
  • Provide technical support to system and technology owners to propose mitigation and remediation solutions
  • Assist with routine compliance and audit functions to ensure regulatory scanning requirements are satisfied

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Systems Administration/Engineering with proficiency in analyzing systems designs with a systems security mindset
  • Strong knowledge of threats and vulnerabilities associated with cloud and on-premise network security for various Operating Systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an ambiguous environment. 
  • High-level familiarity with Vulnerability Management tools such as Tripwire IP360, CCM, and Enterprise.
  • Familiarity with basic networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, etc.)
  • Knowledge if CIS standards and benchmarks for various applications and OS.
  • Ability to oversee and/or perform the development, maintenance, and continual improvement of the compliance processes, and technical assessment support.
  • Ability to drive automation of compliance management platform and processes
  • Demonstrated understanding of infrastructure and cloud compliance scanning
  • Understanding of how to classify and prioritize the risk of new vulnerabilities based on the operating environment
  • Strong understanding of security frameworks, tools and methodologies
  • Ability to understand database architectures that supports business requirements
  • University degree or college diploma in a related field is preferred
  • 4+ years of Information Security experience
  • CISSP, CISA or related certifications would be an asset(s)
