Environmental Health & Safety Intern

The Environmental Health & Safety Co-Op is “hosted” by the Safety Department at one of our manufacturing/distribution facilities. Position Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting the Safety Manager with:

•Implementing safety related programs at the site

•Employee training

•Coordination of safety and occupational health projects

•Promoting safe actions throughout the organization

•Analyzing accident and incident records

•Special projects as identified by the Safety Manager

Please note that we do not provide housing or relocation

Description of assigned responsibilities:

  • Implementing safety related programs at the site.
  • Coordination of safety and occupational health projects.
  • Promoting safe actions throughout the organization.
  • Analyzing accident and incident records.
  • Special projects as identified by the EHS Manager.
  • participating in an EHS audits.
  • conducting an incident investigation.
  • Becoming familiar with environmental practices.
  • Developing site safety plans.

Basic qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • 90% grade average
  • Currently studying a program in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health or a related field (Engineering, Science, Kinesiology, etc.)  
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Must be enrolled in a college/university at the time of the internship
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Problem solving ability.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Project Management skills.
