Mine Superintendent, P.Eng FIFO, Ontario BasedReporting to the General Manager, the Mine Superintendent, P.Eng is responsible to oversee the effective extraction of ore including grade control.

To direct and manage all mine production activities including planning, budgeting, staffing, cost containment, and profitability.

To analyze geological and engineering information and provide direction in the development of mine plans.

To work with the senior management team in determining the overall strategy for the mine.

To ensure continued growth of the team.

To maximize operational efficiencies and profitability and to be a leader in Health, Safety, and Environment.Key Responsibilities:Oversee and implement production programs and operations to maximize production efficiency and resources.Develop and execute an overall strategy for mine development based on input from other departments and personnel.Review data, such as maps, survey reports, and geological records, and meet with engineering, maintenance, and supervisory departments to plan and direct mine development.Analyze records and reports, such as ore grade, air quality, safety, operational costs and potential income estimates to ensure that all programs are on target.Keep up to date with mining laws and safety regulations, and issue directives to direct reports to ensure adherence to applicable rules and regulations.Set production budget using information from the overall mine budget and business plan targetsAnalyze records and reports, such as ore grade, air quality, safety, and production to ensure that all programs are on target.Establish production targets and monitor their achievement and correct or address issues as they arise.Ensure health & safety, and environmental standards are respectedAct as a member of the management team to develop and achieve the overall strategy and goals of the mineProvide top-level support and advice to the MGM.Contribute to the management team to set the direction and establish the mid to long-term operations and project development plans for the mine production department.Provide advice to the GM regarding the development and implementation of the overall mine budget.Act as the expert within the site on mine production processes and practices.Identify options and implement actions to adopt best practices for mine productionProvide leadership to the maintenance teamBuild an appropriate team through recruitment and development.Ensure that training is provided to meet with the current and future needs of the mine.Ensure the necessary manpower and equipment is in place to meet production goals, within budgeted costProvide clear work objectives and expectations of the performance levels required to achieve business objectives and production goals.Manage performance by setting expectations, conduct performance reviews and providing feedback and coaching to direct reports.Promote and maintain a high-performance culture throughout the operation.Qualifications:University or College degree in Mining Engineering or related degree.Formal professional designation in the appropriate area of expertiseMore than 10 years of related work experience, with at least 5 in a management roleStrong working knowledge of underground mining methods and procedures.Good understanding and working knowledge of the applicable legislation and regulations for Mines and Mining Plants.Ability to interpret engineering plans and offer sound technical expertise with regards to mine design and ground control issues.Ability to coach technical professionals in a direction that honors their goals and the mine’s needsAble to be flexible, decisive, and use superb judgment in decision making.Effective ability to convey messages in an organized, clear, and succinct way.The individual should have demonstrated a high level of energy, self-motivation, and strong organizational skills.Excellent inter-personal skills together with an ability to facilitate commitment to a cooperative team effort.Good communication skills, both orally and written with both internal and external contacts and the ability to work with all levels of the organization.Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required.The incumbent will demonstrate excellent English oral and written communication skills.

The ability to hold conversational French will be considered an asset.
