VP, Technology & Innovation Banking – Southwestern Ontario

This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted September 9, 2020.

What is the opportunity?

You inspire, motivate and engage your sales team to deliver a highly differentiated client experience to enhance client loyalty and grow revenue by acquiring new clients and deepening existing client relationships. You will focus on coaching your team to high standards of behaviors, activities and results. Collaborating with other RBC colleagues across the organization, you will contribute to helping RBC grow its dominant market position.

RBC Technology & Innovation Banking is the only vertically integrated, nationally focused, technology & innovation practice among the Canadian banks, where we focus on servicing technology & innovation companies and venture funds by providing banking services, VC fund investments and direct equity investments in certain cases.

What will you do?

  • Provide leadership, direction and ongoing coaching to the Commercial Account Manager team, building employee engagement through focused sales routines
  • Lead and advocate change within the organization by building engagement and inspiring your team to achieve the desired business outcomes
  • Demonstrate your market leadership by promoting the RBC brand and enhancing visibility by developing and maintaining a network in the business community, working closely with industry and business leaders, community groups and RBC partners
  • Manage the business to achieve market and sales objectives through focus and dedication to effective sales management routines that add value for the team while balancing both operational and credit risk requirements
  • Leverage all of the RBC capabilities including branches, alternate delivery channels and service partners to achieve RBC’s business goals
  • Employ digital channels, drive client awareness, and ensure your team is enabling clients with RBC digital access
  • Build trust through collaboration, motivating high performing teams, delivering value added advice with confidence, and winning business in competitive situations

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Minimum 5-7 years commercial banking experience, ideally working with technology & innovation companies where experience with emerging communications and technology was obtained
  • Proven track record in leading and coaching professional sales teams to high standards of performance
  • Proven leadership, sales management and performance management skills with strong organizational skills to manage a geographically diverse and mobile team
  • Strong knowledge of credit management, product and pricing policies, privacy, code of conduct and anti-money laundering requirements, and overall business centre operations
  • Strong sales orientation and a demonstrated passion for putting clients first
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
