The lab will be a centre for innovation excellence and experimentation to help Sonova imagine and create the future in assisted hearing and other consumer solutions.

We’re looking for a Design Lead; someone who is comfortable working in a fast paced environment, and working closely with a shifting team to create innovative new products.You and your team will help ensure Sonova is building meaningful, customer centred products & services in the area ofconsumer & medical apps by engaging directly with customers and other partners in the Communitech ecosystem (corporates, startups, scaleups, academia, and more).You will work closelywith internal teams to understand their challenges and introduce innovative approaches, such as design thinking, lean, agile, prototyping and user testing.

And, all within our well-resourced Lab located in the open and collaborative workspace in the Waterloo Region’s Communitech Hub alongside other leaders of corporate innovation, Velocity Garage, and a host of start-ups.The responsibilities include:Being an owner that achieves results through end-to-end project accountability, stakeholder collaboration.Drive continued integration of human-centred design principles across web, software and apps into Unitron processesWork closely with a team of Product Managers and Developers to create an innovate new products to enhance our customer experience.Build and create new innovative products as part of a team.Mentor, coachand provide technical guidance to Design Co-op students to help them grow.Identify and distill complex problems and design simple and enjoyable solutionsPerform usability testing to generate data that allows informed product direction decisions to be made to achieve the best UX outcomeWork closely with the Development Lead to ensure technical needs are met while maintaining a strong focus on the user experienceMaintain library of learnings from research and usability testingLearns from failure.

Achieves results.Skills and Experience:Degree in Systems Design Engineering, Interaction Design, or other design related degreesYou get stuff done and have a bias to action.Experience working with startups/scaleups and CorporateExperience with and interest in managing and mentoring students / employees.Proven track record for taking ideas from inception to deployment, delivering significant business results and experiences that customers love.You apply the right tools to tackle problems.

You have experience working in lean, agile and other dynamic environments.Driver of user-centred UX strategy best practices, principles, and methodologyExperience in conceptual development and rapid creative prototyping as well as tactical UI design and implementation.Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skillsWe thank all applicants in advance; however only individuals selected for an interview will be contacted.All applications will be kept confidential.
