– THE NEIGHBOURHOOD ORGANIZATION (TNO, formerly Thorncliffe Neighbourhood Office ) is a community based multicultural, multi-service agency, which offers a broad range of programs to serve Thorncliffe Park, Flemingdon Park, and the surrounding communities through strengthening the quality of individual and community life.

Program/Project Description: The TNO Food Collaborative Program is an emergency food service response to address immediate food security needs of residents of Thorncliffe Park and Flemingdon Park.

Recognizing that emergency relief is not a long term solution, the TNO Food Collaborative seeks to operate within the larger scope of TNO services to help connect clients to resources that can help them address the root causes of their food insecurity.

Position Summary: The Program Facilitator is responsible to work as part of the Food Collaborative team to engage and support clients, positively interface with donors, community partners and other TNO programs, and support all warehouse operations and program elements in the Thorncliffe and Flemindgon neighbourhoods.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities: Works collaboratively with other programs to reach out to and serve clients Register clients on Link2Feed database, schedule/confirm appointments, track client usage Manage the Food Bank Phone line (high volume of calls): return calls, check voicemail Assesses clients’ interest and commitment to the program, connect client to other services at TNO Conduct orientation sessions for potential clients prior to registration and intake for the program ensuring eligibility Collaborate and coordinate with other programs to recruit clients for community engagement activities Ensures all the feedback and concerns from clients and the community are addressed and recorded according to TNO’s policies and procedures Manage files on using OneDrive/creating new spreadsheets Support clients on-site by: Signing clients in at the food bank on Link2Feed when they arrive for their appointments, checking in with clients to identify needs and making necessary referrals, supporting clients in selecting food from the warehouse, connecting clients with external services (as appropriate) Assist to create awareness of the project and assist outreach plan and using new and effective tools and techniques Coordinate the receipt of donations from individuals as well as organizations, responding to phone messages and emails Creating appreciation through Social Media, by taking pictures of donations and donors, securing permission for social media posting, identifying social media handles of individuals and agencies who donate to the food bank, composing and posting appreciation on appropriate platforms Create communication channels by posting fliers for events for staff at TNO on our Social Media platforms Providing COVID-Positive Support to clients and case rounds as needed Support, coordinate and keep record of deliveries and pick-ups for various programs; inventory checks Maintains storage of agency and partner’s items (e.g.

PPE) as requested by TNO management and support access to these items following protocols identified Supporting program coordinator to supervise on-site activities of junior staff and volunteers Qualifications: Education Undergraduate degree in social sciences, business administration, or a related field Experience: Two plus years of practical experience working with clients at various levels in the community social agency, community development work, outreach and stakeholder engagement Experience supervising volunteers or small teams.

Knowledge of overall facilitation and integration of services to newcomers to Canada Solid understanding of not-for-profit sector, its stakeholders, community programs Experience in community engagement; demonstrated understanding of local community issues, priorities, gaps and needs including challenges facing newcomers Experience working in a fast-paced, client support environment; managing staff in a client-focused environment within a neighbourhood and community development framework Proficient at developing quality reports and deliverables using PowerPoint, Excel, and Word Excellent English communications skills (reading, written and verbal).

Ability to speak other language is an asset Demonstrated commitment to working with people of diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds from a strong anti-oppressive framework People oriented, friendly with a professional attitude and suited working in a team Proven skills in group work, conflict resolution and problem-solving Flexibility to work evenings and weekends Working Conditions: Hours of Work: Successful candidate would be required to work regular hours for 35 hours per weeks, and flexible between 8:30AM to 8:00PM besides evening shifts and weekends as decided by program requirements.

Location: This position will be located within any of TNO’s service locations based on community and program requirements.

The locations (multiple) for this position may be added or moved to new addresses in the future according to the community and program requirements.
