Job Description TL; DR:We’re looking to put our foot on the gas in 2021 to tackle our largest challenge (growing brand awareness) and to launch a new product for a new market.

We’re growing our marketing team this year.

We need someone who can align the team; pick up key marketing activities like PR, email marketing and social; and scope/assign new marketing projects.About usWe make tools for the electronics manufacturing industry.

Specifically, we shrink entire circuit board factories into a machine the size of a laptop and therefore cut prototyping time from weeks to an hour.

Our machines are used by thousands of hardware developers in over 60 countries to create devices that save lives, explore space, and teach the engineers of the future.

We will soon be releasing a product that will change how product developers around the world design electronics.

We will introduce them to devices that are flexible/stretchable/biocompatible/etc., educate them on the benefits of evolving how they design, and give them the knowledge and peace of mind to do so.

We are consistently among the top growing companies in Canada, have been TechCrunch Disrupt Champions and one of the most innovative Kickstarter campaigns of all time.

If you’d like to find out more about Voltera’s history, products, and personality, check out our site and YouTube channel.About the JobAligning As we grow this year, we need someone to take our CEO’s marketing strategy and use it to define and scope projects, to unblock the team with quick decisions, to be their voice to the rest of the company, and to drive alignment.

We need someone who knows what operational excellence looks like, and has the skills to make it a reality.

PR We need someone who knows how to hunt down and build long-term relationships with the niche publications that write about our space (like additive electronics, additive manufacturing, and electronics manufacturing).

You’ll need to know how to find us the right opportunities with podcasts and video interviews, guest posts, articles on LinkedIn, speaking gigs, and more.

We want to see your creativity!Email marketing All the content we develop needs to get in front of the thousands of leads in our CRM (Hubspot) and the new leads coming in the door every day.

You’d manage, grow, and report on our newsletter and all email marketing that educates and nurtures our prospective customers.Social media Obviously, social channels are essential platforms to distribute our content to drive awareness and engagement.

But they’re also a 24/7 digital networking event where our audience is constantly debating ideas, asking questions, and even just joking around.

We’re looking for someone who can join the party, represent our brand authentically and accurately, and use our channels to amplify the work of our users.

Events Once you’ve hit your stride there is the opportunity to take on our trade shows and events (not in-person for a while obviously).

We mainly exhibit in the US and Germany but we have resellers all around the world that may need your help.

Speaking of which, we want to begin hosting reseller training events at our office, starting online.

Finally, there are webinars to organize, awards to apply for, media to monitor, and whatever else you bring to the table!

Within the first 6 months we’re hoping to see processes built around publishing/distributing content and around all the other operations required from the marketing team.

Since this is such a broad role, we’ll work together to carve out the roles you excel at or are trying to develop and define new roles for us to hire to cover the rest.About YouYou might not have a background in electronics or manufacturing.

That’s totally fine.

We aim to be a B2B company with the personality of a B2C brand so if you’ve done that before, amazing!

If you have previously been the designated project manager or a mentor to fellow colleagues, that’s relevant.

That being said, the right personality and attitude are more important than the years or the companies on your resume.We’re looking for someone who has been, or is aspiring to be, a people manager; but has also realized that they never want to stop putting their technical skills to use alongside their teammates.

Seeing as we manufacture all our products ourselves, we’re never going to be a fully remote company.

But the pandemic lockdowns are forcing us to build some flexibility into how we work.

That being said, if you live in or near the Kitchener-Waterloo region, that would be ideal.

The breadth of this role means that you will need to juggle priorities constantly.

Projects may get put on pause for months to pursue other opportunities.

Deadlines for projects may all come up at the same time.

We want to hear about your organization and adaptability.Finally, you need to be self-sufficient.

You need to take ownership, move fast, and find ways around obstacles.

However, we also expect you to put your hand up to say you need help.

Voltera is at its best when we rally together to help a teammate with too much on their plate or that wants to expand their knowledge or skills.
