Production Coordinator – Co-Op

This is a Contract position in Mississauga, ON posted February 4, 2021.

1 Year (12 – 16 Month) May 2021 Co-op Opportunity for a student registered in an eligible Co-op Program

Assists with regular Production Coordinator responsibilities and may include duties outlined in the role described below:

Summary of Role:

Develops visual factory management infrastructure through maintaining metrics, dashboards, and KPIu2019s via data collection and analysis. To support and participate in production support projects aimed at driving continuous improvement and process optimization. To monitor, review, revise, prepare and train on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) within the production department, ensuring the SOPs reflect current Good Manufacturing Practices, and efficient work activities. To develop and maintain technical documents related to equipment and facility in the Production area.

Essential Functions:

Production Management Infrastructure

  • Maintains and develops Access Databases and Excel Workbooks to consolidate production data including OEE, OPE, Productivity, RFT, CI Metrics, Quality Metrics, Inventory, and others
  • Develops and maintains production balanced scorecards and analytics reports, hosts and facilitates production metrics review meetings (Daily, Weekly, Monthly) as required
  • Supports daily shift reports & production throughput reports for processing and packaging.
  • Maintains and administers production pull system (POLCA)
    • Maintain POLCA indicators & conduct periodic analysis to optimize production queue levels
    • Identify opportunities to level load production WIP & optimize cycle time

    Continuous Improvement and PMO

    • Works with production management to prioritize and schedule production improvement and innovation initiative pipeline
    • Develops & maintain architecture to manage production projects hopper
    • Coordinates production CI huddle cadence including 5S, RFT, A3u2019s, JDI & Eureka, and TPM
    • Coordinates, level loads assignment of CI initiatives to production frontline leadership
    • Participates in operational opportunities within department by conducting detailed operational, value stream and financial analyses, interviewing key personnel, and observing operations as directed by the Management team.
    • Participates in departmental projects and cross-functional project teams to meet project and team objectives

    Technical Documentation Coordination

    • Reviews, revises and prepares SOPs for compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices and to reflect current work activities in production department
    • Supports production document review systems to drive RFT metrics through sustaining document RFT review process
    • Liaise with maintenance and tech ops to implement and sustain TPM through develop technical operation & troubleshooting guides for key production equipment

    Deviations Reports (DRs)/CAPAs and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

    • Works closely with Compliance Department to ensure SOPs are reviewed and revised appropriately and training is provided
    • Recommends, facilitates and monitors teams to solve DR problems or implements CAPA and increase efficiency and quality in production
    • Investigates deviations as required. Facilitates RCA (root cause analysis) workshops, interviews stakeholders, and writes deviation reports.

    Training & Development

    • Prepares documents and materials for informal (e.g. on-the-floor training) and formal training
    • Assesses the learning styles and requirements of employees, develops training infrastructure to cater to learning styles, designs evaluation methods to track training success
    • Develop e-training material for equipment operation & troubleshooting
