Intern – SAP Platform – Systems Environment Team

We’re looking for an eager, fast-learning intern that will work in an Agile team environment where you will be tasked with learning and being hands on with various SAP Systems. The right individual is a strong, natural communicator, participating in technical and non-technical discussions and would enjoy the challenge of working with various SAP systems within a large SAP environment.

The Opportunity

Canada’s largest food retailer is looking for an Intern to join the team to learn and provide hands on expertise in various SAP systems. This position provides the opportunity to engage and work with various peers and stakeholders across Loblaw Technology and the business.

This role consists of being involved across all levels of SAP including the application, database and operating system across multiple SAP instances, environments and systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Work as a team member in the SAP Portal Administrator/SAP-BASIS area.
  • Leverage new technologies and support existing Netweaver, Java, HANA and SAP Portal applications
  • Interact with development teams, functional teams, business units and other technical support teams as needed to optimize and maintain the overall SAP Systems reliability, availability, and performance.
  • Participate in installation, configuration, integration, upgrade and testing services for new projects and on-going maintenance for all SAP systems.
  • Coordinate meetings and discussions internally within Loblaw Technology and with business stakeholders to help drive the SAP Systems and Environment strategy.
  • Coordinate within Loblaw Technology and with business stakeholders to gather business requirements-Develop functional spec as needed
  • Participate in small and medium sized group level project activities or initiatives.
  • Improve service reliability through root cause analysis, blameless post-mortems to prevent or respond to problem recurrence.
  • Digging to the root cause of production and scalability issues and ensuring they are fixed for life
  • Automate all the things! Be passionate about automation, from infrastructure-as-code through to continuous integration and deployments
     

Must-haves:

  • Strong Work Ethic.
  • Ability to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic Infrastructure, computing and network knowledge.
  • Basic Knowledge with Windows Server, AIX and Linux Operating Systems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate ideas and results to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to learn new skills and apply them quickly and efficiently.
  • Ability to lead conversations and discussions.
  • Strong communication, leadership and teamwork skills that will help drive teams to reach project delivery date on time and on budget.
  • Systematic approach to solving problems coupled with strong analytic skills
  • Be proactive, addressing potential problems before they occur

Nice-to-haves:

  • SAP knowledge and experience.
  • Experience and knowledge in the Agile Delivery Framework.
  • Experience in either GCP or Azure.
  • Experience in Retail environment.
  • Working experience with SAP systems, Design Thinking, SAP Cloud Platform, UI5, SAP Fiori
