One of our government clients is looking for a Technology Architect (Ministry of Education) Length: Contract term is 4 months with a possibility of extension Location: Toronto, ON Responsibilities Develops, recommends, implements and manages the technical architecture (hardware, software, database and communications) which will be used for all or specific applications in a large, distributed cross-platform environment.

Responsibilities also include the identification of relevant information and the determination of the environment, which will be used for development.

The candidate will provide innovative solutions for the tasks described below.

Scope of Services and Deliverables
– Provide n-tier development and infrastructure support for technologies ranging from
– (Microsoft .NET, Power BI, SSIS, SSRS, SQL Server, Azure, etc.), Informatica, Oracle (DB 11g/12c, ODI, OBIEE), and Symantec Anti-Virus
– Lead the planning, solution design and architect for system and data integration
– Work closely with IT project managers and managers
– Support the analysis of existing business processes, design and recommend process improvements to effectively harness the benefits of using the application(s).

– Consider both back-end organization of data and front-end accessibility for end-users
– Establish the needs and priorities of the end users
– Perform application and code reviews to identify areas of improvement
– Perform administrative tasks including but not limited to database backup and recovery, databases export and import, database maintenance, database management, monitoring database performance and tuning, etc.

– Maintain data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act
– Recommend, implement and enforce best practices
– Map conceptual design for planned technical solutions with outlines
– Refine the logical design to be able to translate into a specific data model
– Communicate regularly with technical, applications, and operational staff to ensure solution integrity and security Technical Knowledge/Skills
– Over 10 years of UNIX (Solaris and Linux) and Windows Server experience
– Demonstrated working experience with SQL Server 2016 and SSRS implementation
– In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Azure, including Azure Active Directory
– In-depth knowledge of Microsoft BI technology stack
– In-depth knowledge of Oracle database Flashback technology
– In-depth knowledge of database clustering solutions and Data Guard technologies
– In-depth knowledge of database, OS and storage performance monitoring and tuning
– Demonstrated working experience with Oracle Data Integrator 12.x installation, upgrade, migration, cloning, and administration
– Demonstrated working experience with Oracle 12cR2 database migration
– Solid experience in hardware and system software infrastructure architecture design
– Solution Design Knowledge/Skills
– Extensive working experience with solution design and architecture for Single Sign-On solutions
– Extensive working experience with solution design and architecture for Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) and Oracle OBIEE
– Extensive working experience with solution design and architecture for system and data integration
– Demonstrated working experience with solution design and architecture for enterprise web-enable anti-virus file scanning solution
– Demonstrated working experience with solution design and architect for large scale (20TB) Business Intelligence applications
– Proven working experience with large-sized and complex n-tier technology infrastructure
– Knowledge of data warehouse related methodologies and processes
– Extensive working experience in the deployment/promotion of codes to target environments
– (dev-test, UAT, Pre-PROD, PROD, Training and other environments)
– Demonstrate experience in managing deployment processes and hand-off, documentation and KT to operation and other teams
– Extensive working experience in the troubleshooting of issues, incidents and problem solving
– Experience supporting business users working on projects or programs involving multiple highly inter-dependent applications and/or data sources.

– Resolve technical and system problems/issues with business Clients and other teams in order to ensure Systems are maintained as per service level agreements.

– Experience writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata)
– Demonstrated working experience with troubleshooting, problem solving and performance tuning
– Communication and Management Skills
– Experience working on projects within a multi-client/partner environment.

– A team player with the ability to coordinate multiple projects with competing priorities and strict deadlines.

– Experience establishing the needs and priorities of users
– Experience maintaining data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act
– Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills with both executive and nonexecutive level resources
– Proven knowledge and experience in written and oral communication with a large number of stakeholders
– Participate in and lead planning activities; complete all required change request assessment tasks; participate in and lead release management activities
– Demonstrate ability to work with ambiguous and conflicting requirements and finding pragmatic solutions which can be acceptable to all stakeholders.

General Skills
– Leadership experience in the development and implementation of technical architectures at the specified experience level
– Extensive experience with at least three different platforms, operating systems, environments, database technologies, and communications protocols
– Experience with middleware and gateways
– Knowledge of performance considerations in different environments
– Experience in structured methodologies for the design, development and implementation of applications
– Extensive experience in systems analysis and design in large systems environments
– Knowledge and experience designing processes around ITIL and is able to guide others using this methodology
– Experience translating business requirements into reporting needs
– Experience preparing conceptual, logical and/or physical processes and data models
– Experience developing, recommending, implementing and managing technical architecture
– Experience in the use of Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools and other software tools such as project management tools
– Awareness of emerging technologies, trends and directions
– Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills
– A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines
– Experience in developing enterprise architecture deliverables (e.g.

models) Desirable Skills
– Experience in developing enterprise architecture deliverables (e.g.

models) based on Ontario Government Enterprise Architecture processes and practice
– Knowledge and understanding of Enterprise Content Management (Open Text ECM applications)
