To do this, LFL Digital eCommerce is looking for an experienced Technical Development Manager with a passion for innovation and excellence.


What Will You Be Doing

  • Lead a high performing team in a rapid development Agile environment building, improving, and maintaining multi-banner digital and eCommerce properties.
  • Roll up your sleeves in architecting, designing, developing, integrating, and testing complex digital and eCommerce solutions.
  • Evacuate application changes, design, architecture and feasibility against Business needs, direction and technology.
  • Ensure consistent, and timely delivery, of new digital and eCommerce experiences while driving good design, scalability, development velocity, predictability and quality.
  • Take ownership of the technical vision and application/platform, lead key architectural decisions, seek opportunities for improvement and reduce technical debt.
  • Conduct highly effective with high standard code reviews, peer support and insightful feedback.
  • Learning the latest technologies and standards to ensure the best tools and techniques possible.
  • Coach and mentor the development team to grow as leaders. Recruit and retain top development talent.

Requirements For The Role

  • Strong foundation of design principles, especially when it relates to eCommerce.
  • Strong foundation of digital marketing, content and asset management, search and eCommerce platforms.
  • Experience building resilient, secure, scalable applications and services including fault tolerance.
  • Hands on technologist who can dive deep and hold their own with senior developers building a scalable product.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive clear action and ownership amongst development teams. Strong interpersonal skills including ability to work in a multi-banner and cross-functional environment.
  • Decisive, confident, and experience with influencing others.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, TypeScript, React, JavaScript, Vue.js, GraphQL,Shopify JS APIs and Liquid templating language,Ruby on Rails,MySQL, SQL and NoSQL, and PHP.
  • Experience with cloud and cloud providers (e.g. Microsoft Azure, Google GCP).
  • Knowledge of CI/CD, automation technologies, build systems and packaging tools such as Jenkins pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, Git, Grunt.
  • Experience in Agile software development methodology, DevOPS, and continuous integration environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to harness the power of technology and people to accomplish big things. A true leader that enables and inspires their team to do their best work.
  • Eye for talent and a history of building high performance development teams.
    It Would Be Great If You Have / Relevant Experience For The Role.
  • Professional services and/or start-up experience preferred.

To Be Successful In This Role You Will Need

  • Strong understanding of the retail industry as it relates to eCommerce
  • A developer at heart. You are passionate about writing good software and experienced in making wise tradeoffs.
  • Excellent understanding of the agile principles and methodologies.


Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 3 or more years of experience in a technical management role, preferably in a digital and eCommerce business.
  • 5 or more years of software development, engineering or related area.
