Senior System Design Engineer / Architect
You will be part of an R&D team developing high speed serial-link transceivers. We are looking for an engineer with theoretical knowledge and practical experience to contribute to the team. You will work with a cross functional design team of analog and digital designers from a wide variety of backgrounds. You will be involved in all stages of development including architecture/specs for the transmitter and receiver, system level simulation of the design performance across multiple protocols and channels, qualification and correlation of performance and algorithms in silicon.
 Working from SerDes standards you create link budgets and write block-level specifications and work closely with the analog design team to ensure the specifications are realized. You create behavioral models of analog circuits and system models to study impact of various TX/RX non-idealities on overall link performance, channel loss and bit error rate.  You develop calibration and adaptation algorithms and translate them into the firmware necessary to control the system. You write system level documentation and work with the digital team to verify the implemented RTL. When chips come back you work with the lab team to ensure smooth bring-up and to quickly debug any issues that arise.
Key Qualifications

  • Requires a MSc in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 6+ years of experience or PhD with 4+ years of experience
  • System level designer/architect” who is familiar with
  • Modelling of SERDES transmitters and receivers in Matlab or similar tool
  • Development of adaptation and calibration algorithms
  • Knowledgeable about common high-speed serial data protocols including PCIe5, 10G/25G/56G/112G Ethernet, JESD204C, CPRI
  • Experience in C/Matlab/Verilog A modeling of circuits and systems
  • Experience in analyzing link budgets for both NRZ and PAM4 encoded high-speed serial links
  • Able to create block-level requirements from link budget analysis and models
  • Solid background in high-speed analog CMOS circuit design
  • Comprehensive understanding of Tx/Rx equalization techniques
  • Experience with IBIS-AMI modelling is desirable
  • Take designs through productization and be involved in all stages of development
  • Work with cross functional teams to optimize the designs

Preferred Experience

  • Knowledge of circuit topologies in high-speed Rx/Tx SerDes PHY
  • Knowledge of CDR architectures and CDR loop dynamics
  • Experience in lab testing of high-speed serial links and defining equipment needs
