Job Description

What You’ll Be Doing

Digital and Contact Centre Technology (DCCT) provides strategic partnership, production support and project execution to retail branches and telephone banking call centers across Canada, and mobile banking.

As a Senior Application Developer you will join CIBC’s Digital technology team and will be leading a small team of developers in an agile environment.  You will actively participate in defining, developing, and extending the architecture of front-end client solutions to support our brand websites namely, CIBC Online Banking as well as alternative brands. You will work very closely with our server-side, user experience, editorial and quality assurance partners on deliverables. Your subject matter expertise in front-end web development utilizing HTML, CSS, JavaScript development framework such as Vue.js and Ember.js will help us optimize and enhance our web capabilities and help us serve our client’s needs more effectively. 

How You’ll Succeed

  • Design & Development – Work alongside product teams and guide junior developers to define and extend the technical architecture for our online application front-ends using Vue.js and Ember.js JavaScript framework. Your skills will be leveraged to develop Single Page Applications (SPA) such as online banking services, application forms, online calculators, financial planning tools. You will perform code-reviews, provide gap analysis, and translate wireframes into robust applications while adhering to best practices.

  • Technical Leadership – Educate your peers in web accessibility standards; ensure code quality through consistent code review sessions, and share web development best practices.  You will be expected to mentor junior developers and ensure that coding standards including mandatory test coverage are being upheld.

  • Project Delivery & Documentation – Assist your team members with technical documentation creation and ensure compliance with CIBC standards, best practices, web accessibility frameworks, and security protocols. Wherever necessary, present project status document to senior management and other team members and ensure project timelines are being met.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience in Vue.js, Ember.js, Angular, React, or a comparable JavaScript framework. It’s an asset if have experience working in an agile SDLC including but not limited to unit testing and JIRA; understanding of internet design principles like WCAG 2.0 accessibility standards, SEO etc. You are expected to know how to create an app including understanding its respective and industry best practices.  You have a comprehensive understanding of all the facets of your framework of experience. You can demonstrate knowledge and experience with Git and GitFlow branching strategies, mobile development and Responsive Web Design (RWD) frameworks as well as browser testing experience.  A solid understanding of Git branching strategies is a must.
