Senior Technical Systems Analyst


This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted August 14, 2020.

What is the opportunity?

The Senior Technical Systems Analyst partners across IT groups and with assigned business line(s) to assess, research, and analyze business, technical, and system needs in order to resolve business systems issues, providing technology solutions that meet sponsor/stakeholder needs. This includes supporting small to large development or maintenance projects (multiple projects – one application with multiple interfaces and/or third parties).

What will you do?

  • Provide support on new initiatives (small to large of varying complexity). Research and analyzes business and system needs. Explore alternative options and recommends technology solutions and designs that meet sponsor needs and project life cycle (PLC) deliverables, including component reusability, data sharing and security
  • Coordinate activities related to the detailed design phases for small to large projects/programs, identifying, tracking, and resolving technical issues
  • Provide input into high level and detailed technical specifications for small to medium projects in accordance with PLC, security, and architecture documentation objectives. Contribute to successful project completion by identifying risks and developing and/or recommending mitigation strategies
  • Participate in the evaluation of third party vendors and software as well as due diligence exercises. Participate in walkthrough reviews of all technical specifications, programs and unit test plans
  • Assist in the developing, coding, documenting and executing of unit, system, integration and acceptance testing using different languages and testing tools for functions of high complexity
  • Develop detailed plans and accurate estimates for completion of build, system testing and implementation phases of project. Develop master distribution lists, implementation, and contingency plans ensuring verification is performed. Manage joint development, testing, planning and co-ordination of implementations. Perform database disaster recovery for entire system in different situations. Perform performance tuning to improve performance over multiple functions
  • Assist with production deployments and support
  • Work closely with third party vendors. Take part in small to large group meetings for technical design, decision making, and problem solving and task implementation

What do you need to succeed?


  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related technical discipline
  • 3-5 years related technical experience including Windows Server Experience, DB2/SQL, UNIX(AIX)Linux, Coding experience
  • Systems knowledge including active directory best practices, Windows server operating systems, name resolution technologies, Group Policy (GPO, GPP), scripting routine AD tasks, IBM WebSphere
  • Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
  • Good planning, time management, documentation skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong analytical, problem solving skills


  • Mainframe(JCL/Zeke) Experience
  • Dynatrace Experience
  • DevOps Experience (UCD, Jenkins, Nexus, GitHub) and Cloud Experience (PCF or OpenShift)
  • ITIL Certification
