Are you a Network Security Expert looking to expand your skills to Machine Learning and Data Science? Are you a Data Science Expert looking to deepen your hands-on knowledge in cyber-security field focusing on network-based attacks? At BlackBerry, our Gateway engineering team is focusing on network-based attacks detection, prevention, and remediation for enterprise customers around the world, in real-time and at scale, with security first and privacy first in mind.

As Machine Learning / Data Science Engineer, you will work with a BlackBerry Gateway engineering team that focuses on the security of network traffic (both detection and prevention aspects, both north-south and east-west) and will be responsible for the research and development of machine learning models that are capable of recognizing patterns and anomalies in network traffic. The development cycle will cover data collection, feature extraction, AI model building, and integration of the models into the evaluation of real-time network traffic. You might not be an expert in every stage of data science, but you have a desire to enhance your skill set and knowledge in networking, cybersecurity, and the ML field.


You will analyze network data, design and create machine learning models to build models related to the detection of network traffic patterns and network originated threats, such as malicious traffic detection, content classification, and anomaly detection.

You will work with the BlackBerry Gateway engineering team to integrate the models into network anomaly detection and risk assessment.

You will interact with other teams and BlackBerry Spark products at BlackBerry to contribute to the research and development of mechanisms for comprehensive anomaly detection and risk evaluation across multiple products. You will research new and advanced persistent network threats and develop solutions to detect and block them.


·         Advanced degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math, or other quantitative fields from a reputed university.

·         2+ years of industry experience in building machine learning models to solve security problems.

·         4+ years of experience in programming.

·         Hands-on experience in two or more machine/deep learning frameworks.

·         Knowledge of networking and networking security

·         Excellent knowledge of machine learning/data science approaches.

·         Excellent interpersonal, technical, and communication skills

·         Ability to learn, evaluate and adopt new technologies

·         Experience with data serialization techniques and data stores for persisting events is a plus

·         Experience with AWS cloud and containerization technologies.
