Senior Database Administrator to provide ongoing support of developer applications and client processing in a Sybase environment

Our valued public sector client is seeking the services of a Senior Database Administrator to provide ongoing support of developer applications and client processing in a Sybase environment

The Sybase hosting environment consists of approximately 15 servers composed of development, staging and production environments running SAP ASE (2 TB), IQ (5 TB) and REPLICATION server. It primarily supports the client’s analytical users in production for three user groups – Processing, Edit and Imputation, and Dissemination.

Tasks Include:

  • Provide recommendations and apply changes approved by the Database technical advisor to the architecture of the Platform as a service on virtual Windows infrastructure
  • Install, configure, apply approved upgrades and patching of DB environments, including any changes to middleware software, hardware or related network components
  • Design platform DB Performance Tuning
  • Monitor regular backup and recovery activities to ensure no loss or corruption of data, and take appropriate corrective action as required
  • Assist and provide recommendations for the performance tuning of applications to improve overall performance
  • Investigate requirements, configurations and components required to provide a link between Statcan databases and various other Statcan applications/Commercial Software
  • Assist developers with application testing by refreshing data in Development, User Acceptance Testing and Pre-Production environments as required
  • Collaborate with Application Developers on methods of optimizing data access by proper index creation and improved coding of procedures, and other performance-related issues
