Job Description

We’re looking for a Scrum Master who can coach the team towards continuous improvement in delivering value with every sprint.  The role will be working with like-minded skilled engineers solving complex problems and delivering phenomenal software.  You’ll be running two or three scrum teams  with team members in three sites (Canada, US, India) – each scrum team has a dedicated Product Owner and a supporting project manager.

About the Role

In the role of a Scrum Master, you will:

Be a collaborator:

  • Coordinate with our global agility community of practice, bringing your expertise to the community and bringing the community’s best insights back to your team
  • Work closely with the technical lead to ensure that the development team have what they need in terms of environment, equipment, training, support, etc.
  • Work closely with the Product Owner in writing effective User Stories and maintaining the ordered Product Backlog as the development team provides estimates.

Be the subject matter expert:

  • Keep the development team in alignment with the Scrum framework, values, and principles, and ensure the team is focused on continuous improvement – likely within a scaled implementation.
  • Facilitate regular and effective backlog refinement sessions.
  • Continuously work to improve team performance and productivity
  • Support team accountability, self-organization, and empowerment
  • Identify, make open, and help to manage dependencies with other internal or external teams as required.

Coach and mentor:

  • Coach and mentor the team on current Agile practices
  • Promote and support the development of team’s automated processes, in conjunction with dedicated Software Engineer in Test and DevOps Engineer

Be curious and innovative:

  • Facilitate Retrospectives which generate new ideas for process improvement.
  • Keeping the Product owner updated post development completion to ensure that release notes and documentation can be accurately produced

Focus on data and metrics:

  • Maintain relevant metrics that guide the development team to more efficient processes in their work and in satisfying their Product Owner and partners.
  • Maintain effective information that aids openness and supports clear communication between the development team, the Product Owner, and stakeholders

Focus on continuos inpmrovement:

  • Actively participate as a member of the Scrum Master Team, helping to reduce waste and drive continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement learning activities, including leading or co-leading training sessions open to the greater

About You

You are a fit for the role of Scrum Master if you are or have:

  • Must be a certified Scrum Master, holding either a PSM or CSM.
  • Deep understanding of the software development life cycle.
  • Experience in a software development, delivery, or related role; experience as a Scrum Team member (Scrum Master, Developer, or Product Owner)
  • Subject matter expert of Scrum and complimentary Agile development approaches.
  • Ability to facilitate, understand, and contribute to technical discussions.
  • Effective communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable communicating with development teams, Product Owners, Product Management, and Senior Management.
  • Effective facilitation and conflict resolution skills – ought to facilitate discussion of multiple approaches and drive resolution.
  • High level of personal accountability, as evidenced by your commitment, resilience, ownership, and mindset toward continuous learning.
  • Hardworking, high-energy, motivated, and driven to help the team excel.
  • Excellent social skills – ability to work with diverse personality types.
  • Understand that your role in the organization is broader than the details included in this particular job description.
