Program Director


This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted January 28, 2021.

What is the opportunity?


As the Program Director, you will lead program planning, delivery and implementation while ensuring enterprise-wide program strategic goals and objectives are accomplished, including liaise with internal/external RBC partners and third party vendors.


What will you do?


  • Manage complex high value programs, including sub-programs within other large programs led by other senior leaders.
  • Translate project vision into relatable information related to the program, including design and delivery
  • Facilitates, manage and gather business requirements for enterprise-wide BU and IT solution
  • Seek out industry trends and organization knowledge in order to understand alternative methodologies and solutions
  • Ensures risk assessments are completed and that contingency plans are identified and executed
  • Seek input and prepares program roadmap, including project and implementation plans aligned with executive approval
  • Seeks and promotes innovative or improved methods of delivery and implements best practices while ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide Business & IT Architecture
  • Sound knowledge of the business and technology landscape and in particular the project/program roadmap and IT architecture
  • Provides leadership and expert counsel in establishing and implementing standards, guidelines and best practices for the deployment and support of innovative program solutions
  • Champions the creation of metrics and manages with a higher level of information
  • Builds a high performing and diverse team that leverages individual capabilities and strengths Sets direction and vision for the team

What do you need to succeed?

  • Minimum 10 or more years of experience in leading large complex programs and projects within information technology
  • 5 or more years of people management experience and proven leadership and coaching abilities, including in a large global organization
  • Expert knowledge of program and project plan development and management, including schedule methodology, Agile or Lean Six Sigma (LSS) methodologies, including the development of program and project metrics, analysis and status reporting
  • Demonstrated experience with communicating program/project objectives and provide briefing updates to executives
  • Proactively self-learns and develops, a highly innovative mindset and ability to look at things differently.
  • PMP or PGMP Certification
