PLC Programmer

  • Full-time permanant
  • Monday-Friday Afternoon Shift (3:00 pm – 11:00 pm)
  • Starting rate: $32.32 will go up to $34.43 after 1 year of employment

Ian Martin Workforce is working with a reptuable organization that manufacturers and installs high quality featured home comforts to the consumer.

As their new PLC Programmer you will be reponsible for designing and programming PLCs for new lines, troubleshooting equipment issues, and fixing programming issues on old production lines. Position is also responsible for the maintenance of the electrical facilities and equipment.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot malfunctioning machinery, determine the root cause of the failure, and find appropriate solutions to prevent failure in the future. Correct machine failure.
  • Development and support of PLCs (Program Logic Control) and HMI (Human Machine Interface) programs for use on production lines or industrial equipment.
  • Create and build electrical schematics for new lines, using computer aided design software.
  • Program Fanuc robot and interfaces with Allen Bradley PLC and HMI’s. Research and recommend ways to make our HMI interfaces easier for troubleshooting.
  • Needs to be a competent user of Safety PLC Systems working in adherence with Safety Standards.
  • Check older PLC installations for programming and wiring deficiencies. Make recommendations for updates and execute changes.
  • Communicate to and train associates regarding changes to machines.
  • Assist team members with electrical/programming issues
  • Manage equipment obsolescence: track status of equipment. Make plans for upgrade or replacement.
  • Assist with the installation of new wiring. New wiring installations must comply with the Electrical Safety Code & be inspected by the Electrical Safety Authority; maintain a log of completed work to be inspected. Schedule electrical work around production schedules, so that power interruptions are kept to a minimum.
  • Adhere to Company’s health & safety policies, i.e. lock out/tag out, PPE, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent, College education / College of Trades (Trades specific) and/or apprenticeship. PLC training, Fanuc robot training on the job training; must have Industrial Electrician License, Electrical Construction & Maintenance License 309D
  • Minimum 5 years’ industrial experience with Allen Bradley and HMI programming; Fanuc robot programming and troubleshooting is an asset; and a minimum 5 years’ hands on electrical experience. Proven experience building an automated production line using Allen Bradley programming.
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel & Internet Explorer are required
  • Requires proficiency in Program Logic Control (PLC) operation & associated software, i.e. Allen Bradley RS Logix, Omron CX
  • Specific component software for machine control – motor drives, press controls & relay logic control systems is necessary.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to travel to the US.
