Manager, Strategic Project (Analytics)

Purpose of Job:


Supports and coordinates the project management execution and the end to end implementation of Global Risk Management initiatives on behalf of SVP & Head, Retail Credit Risk, by globally ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are supported in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.


Job Responsibilities:


  • Contributes to the centralized project management office to support global strategic priorities across Retail Credit Risk. Acts as the key liaison with both Internal/external stakeholders when it comes to global communications and messaging.
  • In partnership with theSenior Project Manager, executes projects, including but not limited to: Board deliverables, OSFI requests, Investor Relations, etc. with a high level of complexity and uncertainty including managing project scope, navigating multiple and competing demands and priorities, as well as determining and conveying impact on timelines, budget and risks using appropriate metrics and assumptions


  • Works with the internal Risk and Business stakeholders to help improve processes and implement strategic initiatives, offering subject matter expertise
  • Assists project team with designing communications strategy including steering committee presentations, status reports to Senior Risk Leaders & Executives, internal & business stakeholders, and project team including timely updates on project risk and issues.


  • Facilitate project team meetings, ensuring project documentation is updated after each meeting. Following up with stakeholders to ensure actions are completed
  • Tracks risks, issues and conflicts, supports the removal of project barriers and communication of project risks. Analyze and improve project management and agile practices to increase project velocity.


  • Maintains project repository, KPI dashboard, overall project tracking and providing projects teams with documentation on analysis, scope definition, requirements gathering and solution alignment


  • Schedules timely engagement with relevant groups, e.g. regulatory, compliance, finance, operational risk, IT, as determined by implications of the change being introduced by the project.  Facilitates Project Sponsor awareness of internal factors affecting organizational change that need to be planned for and managed.


Job Requirements:


  • Must have 2-3 years of project management experience
  • Experience resolving complex project issues which may require facilitation of multiple senior resources


  • Excellent relationship management resulting in a proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders, mobilize and motivate teams; set direction and approach, resolve conflict, deliver tough messages with grace, execute with limited information and ambiguity


  • Risk management skills and experience
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, capable of balancing multiple perspectives, effective at all levels up to senior executive
  • Solid knowledge and expertise in Data Visualization (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI) and relevant automation using Python/ R.


  • Expert presentation, written and verbal communication skills


  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to recognize and comprehend complex issues


  • Solid knowledge and expertise in the use of program/project tools (e.g. MS Project, SharePoint repositories, PowerBI)


  • Possesses a university degree and/or 3+ years relevant work experience.
  • Holding a valid PMP designation from the Project Management Institute (PMI) or other valid program management certification is an asset


  •  Spanish language and international experience are an asset
