IT Security Planning and Protection Specialist, Level 3

This is a Contract position in Ottawa, ON posted September 9, 2020.

About the role Our Federal Government client has an upcoming need for a Senior IT Security Planning and Protection Specialist to perform the following duties
• Provide analysis, strategic advice, and subject matter expertise to the core project team and stakeholders from a networking perspective.

• Identify Gaps that could/will impede successful Design, Implementation and/or Operational Maintenance & Support;
• Work with Wi-Fi Engineering personnel and Stakeholders to gather missing knowledge, develop/improvise solutions Initiate, plan and prioritize project work packages for the Wi-Fi Engineering Group.

• Monitor & Control/Regulate workload within the Wi-Fi Engineering Group in conjunction with management
• Validating the Outbound Engineering/Design Documentation against Requirements, and Security Policy.

• Monitor, Track and Communicate Progress within the Wi-Fi Engineering Group including;
• Weekly Status Updates to Wi-Fi Engineering Group personnel;
• Status Updates to Senior Management on an as required basis;
• Deliver Presentations to Senior Management on an as required basis; and
• Develop/Maintain Tools for tracking Progress.

• Ensure that all Stakeholders are aware of the progress being made in the Wi-Fi Engineering Group;
• Communicate/discuss the logic behind and the attributes of Wi-Fi Engineering Technical Designs;
• Monitor further Project Success beyond the Wi-Fi Engineering Group (i.e.

Implementation); and
• Develop a feedback loop to further improve future design.

The qualifications
• Clearance Secret
• Language English
• 10 years’ experience within the Telecommunications industry, providing strategic planning and advice for the delivery of secure wireless services to Government of Canada (GC) and Public Sector clients.

• Experience developing IT security architecture and solution designs for the following technical areas o Wireless LAN (Enterprise Wi-Fi) o Wireless Telecom Solutions (IP Microwave) o Wireless Intrusion Prevention Systems (WIPS) o In-Building Cellular Solutions.

• 10 years’ experience authoring technical, operational, and policy level documentation for Government of Canada Senior Management and project stakeholders.

• 10 years’ experience documenting Infrastructure Protection requirements for a National Telecommunications Wireless service.

• Recent experience (within the last 5) evaluating enterprise-wide technology tools and developing Proof of Concept (PoC) lab environments for wireless communications.

• Eexperience (within the last 5 years) developing security specifications that include the use of o X.500 Standards Directory o IPSec/SHA256 Virtual Private Networking (VPN) o HTTPS Application Level Communication Protocols GD-LL1 Type of assignment Contract, Full-time Become a part of the Calian team and join over 3,000 professionals working on projects that span Canada, U.S.
