The Client Connect (CC) team is a collection of Pods within the Client Experience Office (CXO) responsible for helping our clients achieves lifetime financial security and well-being by proactively providing personalized, useful and actionable information. The team has become a leading digital client engagement platform that is fueling the velocity of the Sun Life Canadian business units.

As a Business Testing Specialist, you will be a part of an Agile marketing team (pod) within the Client Experience Office (CXO).  Your role will be to provide professional, structured testing services that embraces innovative tools and techniques to enhance the quality of marketing deliverables and align with our Client (member) expectations.

What will you do?

  • Perform validation of Wealth campaigns or client offerings through Web Sites, Mobile Applications, Email and Call Center channels.

  • Obtain business data requirements (reflective of client segmentation attributes) and translate them into testing data needs from various application source systems.

  • Update test data attributes in the appropriate database using SQL statements

  • Deliver quality testing artifacts and activities in the Agile pod, when needed, such as Estimates, Test scenarios, Test cases, Test execution / validation, Defect management and reporting, Test reports

  • Search or mine for test data in the application source systems.

  • Create and maintain Regression models and Training documentation.

  • Contribute to testing practices and processes improvements.

  • Partner with Sun Life’s TCoE (Testing Center of Excellence) to ensure alignment of practices, guidelines and testing industry standards

  • Contribute to Agile pod as a strong team player – think outside the box, adapt to change, and thrive in a fast paced environment.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Quality Centre (QC) / Advanced Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) / QTest experience

  • Experience with Jira and Wrike

  • Experience with AEM and RTDM

  • Understand business impact of testing


  • 3 years of Test Lead experience & test lead experience on small to medium projects (up to 50 days)

  • Experience in multi-web browser test environment, multi-mobile device testing of mobile app and mobile web

  • Knowledge and experience in Database and Data mining using Simple SQL statements, as well as understanding of Data Models

  • Knowledge and experience in Agile delivery methodology, User Experience (UX) deliverables & User Experience testing skills

Preferred Skills:

  • CSTE certification or plans to work towards a designation

  • Knowledge and experience in Mainframe testing

  • Knowledge and experience in Waterfall and Iterative project delivery methodologies

  • Knowledge and experience in mobile testing tools such as Mobile Center or equivalent

Notes/Unique Requirements:

  • Some additional hours will be required outside of normal schedule during peak periods or during system outages

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
