Reporting to the Senior Director, Diversity and Inclusion, this role will support BlackBerry in enhancing its diverse workforce through the advancement of equitable hiring and promotion practices, as well as creating an inclusive work environment across all levels of the organization. This role will support and champion global human resources diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives by implementing, monitoring, and updating programs, policies, procedures, systems, and reporting that exemplify best industry practices. This role will promote visible and successful equal employment opportunity, diversity, and inclusion within BlackBerry, and will be responsible for supporting the development and delivery of training programs and initiatives which create and foster a diverse and inclusive company work environment based on mutual respect, consistency, and mutual accountability for results.  The position requires a dynamic individual who has an understanding of the complexity and multiple dimensions of implementing industry best practices, equal opportunity and equity in the workplace, and compliance with the local employment laws and regulations.


  • Work closely with BlackBerry Leaders, Recruiters, and HR Business Partners to promote a diverse and inclusive work environment. Provide advice, coaching and support as needed.
  • Promote and implement training programs to enhance employee and manager understanding of BlackBerry’s policies and procedures in compliance with local legislation and employment laws regarding equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, diversity and inclusion.
  • Coach employees and managers on recognizing, accommodating and appreciating individual differences, and how these can be bridged back to assist in meeting BlackBerry’s business goals and strategy.
  • Assist in the development and updating of policies, procedures and programs to attract, retain and promote a diverse and inclusive workforce at BlackBerry globally.
  • Maintain metrics to monitor and measure effectiveness of company’s HR diversity and inclusion programs and initiatives.  Prepare quarterly and ad hoc reports for the EVP of HR.
  • Support Affirmative Action Program Plans and required government reporting for the U.S., Canada, and other countries where reporting is required, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, completeness, quality, and audit readiness of data by tracking progress against goals.
  • Keep current regarding trends, best practices, and reporting requirements that affect affirmative action, equal employment opportunity, diversity, inclusion and equity programs and regulations.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • C.H.R.P./C.H.R.L. designation is an asset
  • Minimum 4 years of progressive human resources experience, preferably in the high tech industry.
  • Knowledge of workplace diversity, inclusion, equity and employment related law, human resources management and bias‐free hiring and promotion. 
  • Highly organized, analytical, persuasive, collaborative and responsive professional with a high degree of work ethic, professional transparency, interpersonal skills, and sound business acumen.
  • Exceptional writing, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships.
  • Excellent knowledge of data collection to support planning and decision-making.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and proven ability to work with all levels of management as a tactical partner, coach and advisor.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. EEO & affirmative action legislation, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), the Ontario Human Rights Code, and Ontario Employment Standards Act strongly preferred.
