Manager, Materials


This is a Contract position in Ont, ON posted September 9, 2020.

Summary Description: Reporting to the Director, Materials Management, the Material Manager is responsible for defining & implementing materials inventory for multiple plants within a geographic region, both company-owned and co-packer.

Geographic region coincides with the Operations regional splits.

Coordination of new product introductions, extensions and discontinuations.

Adherence to inventory targets and customer service goals within financial guidelines.

This position supports a team of Material Planners and works closely with Plant Managers, Sales Team Leaders and the Division Supply Chain Team.

Key Accountabilities: The following are essential duties and responsibilities for this position: Right Product, Right Place, Right Time Support and lead material planners with planning and scheduling parameter settings, KPIs & direction to ensure customer targets are met.

Review inventory levels and ensure the correct mix is available minimizing risk of obsolescence & that inventory-aging issues are promptly addressed.

Build and Execute Proactive Processes Lead the planning for all new item or new customer initiatives at the plant level and work closely with Account Teams, Marketing Managers, and Senior Buyers to ensure 100% product availability on launch date.

Lead the Continuous Improvement process as part of the Product Supply Management Operating System & ensure that projects are properly resourced and produce desired results.

Lower Total Delivered Costs Identify potential aging inventory issues & lead the corrective action necessary to address them at the least cost.

Work closely with Account teams and Marketing /Sales Managers to identify opportunities to increase the cash return invested in inventory.

Provide support data to optimize product portfolios Work closely with Plant Managers and Production Managers to optimize existing capacity and improve manufacturing efficiencies.

Develops crewing model that reduce the variability of staffing needs & level load capacity.

Team and People Development Build competency within the material planners providing necessary coaching of technical and people skills Build effective relationships with Account Teams, Procurement, Plant Managers, Production Managers, and the Division Supply Chain team to ensure that communication and planning are reliable & potential issues are avoided.

Skills/Qualifications: Proven experience leading a team and providing tools and support necessary to ensure their collective success.

Inventory Management background in Consumer Goods Inventory Management with a Beverage Industry Company an asset Ability to be agile, meet deadlines and prioritize work Demonstrated problem solving skills Succession planning and people development Ability to initiate, compile, analyze and provide accurate reporting Must be confident, approachable, and energetic with an eye for detail Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills Ability to collaborate with others Customer Focused Innovative thinking skills Education and Experience : Post-secondary Diploma or equivalent in Business Management and/or related field will be preferred; Experience with Supply Chain Management software such as Manugistics, SAP, i2 etc.
