Vocational Rehabilitation Employment Specialist – Oshawa, ON

We have gone above and beyond to ensure the safety of our patients and employees with PPE provided, the spacing of patients, screening, and more. Extensive safety protocols and procedures have been put into place and are mandatory.

Lifemark Health Group is seeking a Employment Specialist to join our team on a Full-Time, Part-Time or Contract basis.

The Employment Specialist will work in collaboration with the referral sources to provide Employment Planning, Employment Preparation and Job Search Support to injured workers.  Services include job search skills and workshop facilitation, and job development and placement services to clients. In this role, you will make a difference in the lives of our clients through assisting unemployed individuals in obtaining employment and returning to the workforce, identifying prospective employers/placements and assisting in meeting their hiring needs, and matching available clients with employers who have hiring opportunities.  The Specialist will coordinate and monitor work experience placements and ensure post-hire job retention.
Responsibilities include: 

  • Facilitating job coaching/mentoring and job search workshops
  • Completing resumes and cover letters
  • Identifying and resolving workplace issues
  • Conducting labour market research
  • Marketing clients to prospective employers and matching client to work experience placements and employment placements
  • Providing job placement support, and career and employment services


  • University Degree (preferred) in health sciences, social sciences, education; or business or College Diploma in Employment Counselling, Career Development, Social Services, Community Work, Human Resources, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in job development and/or sales and marketing and/or recruitment
  • Experience facilitating workshops, delivering training and mentoring clients in job development, job search, interview skills
  • Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation Boards policies and procedures; experience working with individuals who have experienced a workplace illness or injury
  • Experienced in job placement and securing employment for job seekers
  • Knowledge of community based services and supports
  • Strong understanding of equality and diversity issues and their application in the workplace
  • Proven experience working with unemployed, underemployed, vulnerable individuals who face barriers to entering the labour market
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships in business and labour communities
  • Strong interpersonal, employment coaching, mediation, interviewing and presentation skills
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and virtual service delivery
  • Related experience conducting transferrable skills analysis, vocational evaluations and labour market research would be an asset
  • CVRP, CCVE, CCRC, CDMP, CCDP, RTWDM, CCC, job club or other related professional designation and/or eligibility to obtain designation would be an asset
  • Candidates should have a strong understanding of the Ontario labour market
  • Willingness to travel
