This is a 1 year contract position.

Reporting to the Strategic Sourcing Manager, the Strategic Sourcing Buyer will assist the Strategic Sourcing team with the overall implementation and management of ‘best practice’ processes as they relate to Supply Chain. This role is responsible for sourcing, the full cycle RFQ and/or RFP process from RFQ/RFP document development to post award implementation, contract negotiation and vendor management with the objective of process improvements and overall cost savings.

Key Outcomes:

  • Successfully execute the supplier selection strategy (RFI, RFQ, RFP) for a specific commodity under defined timelines while ensuring quantifiable results/savings;
  • Manage and execute the 7 Step Strategic Sourcing Process from industry research and market scan, through selection process to final negotiation; and
  • Negotiates best cost/value and terms for the company with suppliers across Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand the commodity and identify cost and service metrics to achieve most viable solutions;
  • Maintain ongoing communications with suppliers and vendors regarding costs, quality, quantity and delivery of goods purchased as identified through operations/stakeholders;
  • Lead cross-functional teams through the sourcing, evaluation & selection process, supplier negotiation and contract implementation;
  • Works collaboratively and cross-functionally to ensure full understanding and support of category management, sourcing and contract management key processes;
  • Identify strategic partners, lead complex and critical negotiations and deliver improved products and lower costs to the division through supplier management, strategic sourcing, commodity management, and total cost principles;
  • Identify, lead and track cost saving opportunities in support of cost saving targets;
  • Manage sourcing activity coordination and processes for sourcing duties relating to new product development including leading or participating in supplier selection, capability assessment, quality improvement, and supplier readiness;
  • Communicate, monitor, and manage compliance with sourcing strategy and/or business process;
  • Stay abreast of supply market trends, supplier economics, and best practices in sourcing and contract management;
  • Develop relationships with key contacts at all levels;
  • Seek to improve capabilities of the supply base and/or key business processes;
  • Analyze industry trends, suppliers market dynamics at regional, national and global level and recommends best suppliers based on the findings;
  • Evaluate suppliers core competencies and competitive positioning using industry cost models;
  • Uphold and promote the values relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in Revera’s Code of Conduct; and
  • Complete all other tasks as assigned.

Required Education, Credentials and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Strategic Sourcing;
  • Business Degree with related PMAC courses;
  • Previous experience in the health care/hospitality/real estate/retail industry is an asset;
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills;
  • Working knowledge of vendor contracts;
  • Technical knowledge of commodities purchased and key cost drivers;
  • Resourcefulness;
  • Ability to work under pressure and with a sense of urgency;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

  • Proficient in complex PowerPoint presentations pertaining to sourcing process;
