Registered X-Ray Technologist

Hamilton Health Sciences

This is a Contract position in Hamilton, ON posted September 14, 2020.

The Heart Investigation Unit serves the South-Central region of Ontario and comprises 4 cardiac catheterization labs and a 32 bed reception/recovery area. The interdisciplinary team comprises cardiologists, critical care nurses, HIU technicians and medical radiation technologists. Interventions include left and right heart catheterizations and interventional procedures such as angioplasty, stent insertion, valvuloplasty and transcutaneous aortic valve implantation.

As a member of a Multidisciplinary Health Care team, co-ordinates, performs and evaluates Diagnostic Services examinations within the specific modalities and disciplines. Guides and directs clinical and technical associates and students in a teaching and research environment and provides patient care within the core values of respect, caring innovation and accountability. Rotation through other modalities and sites based on qualifications and unit requirements may be required.

1. Graduate of an approved training program in Radiological Technology
2. Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists
3. Current BCLS registration
4. Demonstrated ability to work responsibly in a team environment
5. Demonstrated effective communication, organization and interpersonal skills
6. Effective problem solving skills, critical thinking and the ability to prioritize in a fast paced environment
7. Evidence of participation in on-going education and professional development
8. Membership in the CAMRT/OAMRT preferred
9. Minimum 2 years experience preferred
10. Must successfully complete critical practice orientation and core classes
11. Must successfully complete ECG Rhythm Interpretation
