The Cardiology and Vascular Surgery Unit is located on 4 West and is comprised of 19 Cardiology beds and 13 Vascular beds. . Within the unit, there are 3 cardiology and 4 vascular step-down unit beds, and capacity to ECG monitor by telemetry. Patients with a primary cardiology diagnosis under the care of a member of the division of Cardiology, and those admitted under the care of the Vascular Surgical team are admitted to 4 West. These cardiology patients could include the following diagnoses: patients with CAD recovering from AMI or ACS event; patients following PCI who have a prolonged inpatient hospitalization; patients with valvular, pericardial or myopathic conditions requiring investigation or treatment; patients with complex arrhythmias including those for EPS, ablation or device (pacemaker / implantable cardioverter defibrillator) management. The vascular patients are admitted pre and post-operatively and cared for by an interdisciplinary team after undergoing vascular surgical procedures.
