We currently have a Temporary Full-Time opportunity for a Recreation Therapist in the Mental Health-Inpatient (F2) department at our Bayview campus.

Hours of Work: Weekdays: Days; 8 hrs; As per schedule
Weekends: Alternating Saturday/Sunday; Days; As per schedule

Summary of Duties:

· Working with an interprofessional team, the Recreation Therapist is responsible to plan, implement and evaluate therapeutic interventions for Adolescents and Adults who have been diagnosed with a major mental illness.

· Participate in educational activities and other duties as required.

· Demonstrate ability to organize, supervise volunteers within the program

· Participate in RT professional initiatives


· Degree in Recreation/Leisure Studies with therapeutic recreation specialization;

· CPR Certification at the Basic Rescuer level essential;

· CPI, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Gentle Persuasion Approach (GPA) an asset;

· Membership with a Recreation Therapy Professional Association essential;

· R/TRO designation preferred;

· Minimum 1 year experience working in Mental Health;

· Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels both within the organization and the community;

· Demonstrated awareness of, or involvement in, current issues in the Recreation Therapy profession at a provincial or national level;

· Ability to work with the multidisciplinary team and multiple health professions on clinical and program development issues
