Position Description
The Complex Care and Recovery at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a full-time, permanent Recreation Therapist to work on Integrated Rehabilitation Unit (IRU). As a Recreation Therapist you will work with the interprofessional team in an integrative and client-centered approach towards providing care to clients from diverse backgrounds. You will promote a holistic leisure lifestyle to clients addressing their social, physical, spiritual, emotional and cognitive needs. You will assist in developing, planning, facilitating, scheduling, organizing and implementing various therapeutic recreation programs. This will be accomplished by conducting assessments, developing individual recreations plans through the IPOC, completing patient documentation, skill instruction, development of program goals and objectives, and evaluating a variety of individual and group recreation programs. Reporting to the Manager of the Integrated Rehab Unit, you will be expected to contribute to program development and to the research and educational activities of the service. This position is located at the Queen Street Site. Evening and weekend work will be required.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will posses a Degree/Diploma in Recreation/Therapeutic Recreation along with one year experience and have good working knowledge of therapeutic recreation principles and practices. You are a member of Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO) and those candidates eligible for registration with TRO are preferred. Knowledge of Schizophrenia symptomatology and Cognitive Adaptation Training is an asset. You have a demonstrated ability in developing, organizing, and implementing leisure/recreation activities, and assessing leisure interests and abilities. You possess the ability to organize and supervise volunteers within the program. The incumbent must have the ability to run treatment-focused groups; access appropriate community supports; possess strong interpersonal and communications skills, and have the ability to deal effectively with a culturally diverse and complex clientele. Bilingualism (English/French) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.

Please Note:  This full-time, permanent position is part of the OPSEU Bargaining Unit. 

Salary Range:  $30.23 -$34.83 per hour
