Job Description

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will lead a team of engineers responsible for DevOps development for automated driving software.  You will lead of team of 12-15 engineers in an agile development environment.  Cumulative travel requirements of 2 to 4 weeks a year is typical, primarily to Michigan and other locations in the US.

Due to COVID the successful candidate will be working from home until mid-2021 with limited to no travel required.  You will engage with your team using video collaboration tools to build and establish relationship, learn the fundamentals of the business, and provide leadership to the team.  At the current time there is an expectation that the successful candidate will relocate (if necessary) within commuting distance of the Canadian Technical Centre located in Markham, Ontario.

Core Responsibilities
•    Provide People and Technical Leadership to a team of engineers focused on building, evolving, and maintaining a DevOps pipeline for automated driving applications (typical team size: 12-15 engineers)
•    Continue to drive an agile culture, focusing on behaviours and performance
•    Engage in all aspects of talent development (mentorship, career development, progression and succession planning, etc.)
•    Build strong relationships with key stakeholders both locally and remotely to support delivery of team’s goals
•    Support the Canadian Technical Centre (CTC) growth initiatives related to recruitment and hiring
•    Exemplify corporate values and drive a culture of accountability, innovation, inclusion, and change.
•    Manage the day to day operational needs of the team (budget, travel, etc.)

Additional Job Description

Required Skills and Experience
•    8+ years of technical experience within the Software Engineering/development domain (experience with C/C++, Python, Design Patterns, Software Architecture)
•    Experience leading DevOps initiatives for complex cyber-physical systems
•    Working level knowledge of DevOps principles and practices
•    Experience as a ‘people leader’ overseeing technical teams
•    Experience with talent development (mentorship, career development, progression and succession planning, etc.)
•    Experience in the development of embedded control systems.
•    Ability to travel to the United States and possess valid Canadian driver’s license
•    Demonstrated high level of analytical ability to resolve complex problems
•    Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with many team members local and remote
•    Demonstrated ability to innovate, think strategically, and initiate action in support of positive change

Preferred Skills and Experience
•    Experience with Adaptive AutoSAR
•    Experience with SAFe agile development methodologies
•    Experience with automotive embedded controls or equivalent
•    Knowledge of vehicle architectures, serial data communication, ethernet, and hardware/software interfaces

Minimum Education Required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
