Civil Designer (3D)


This is a Contract position in Oakville, ON posted February 5, 2021.

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently seeking a Civil 3D Designer to join our Mining & Minerals team in Oakville, Ontario who will be trained and apply knowledge of civil design and drafting principles and practices to the organization’s products and services. The  Designer will plan, schedule and conduct engineering assignments under the guidance of senior designer or Engineer. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide civil design and drafting support for utility and industrial facilities and services, including buried and overland piping, pumping stations, access roadways, and spill containment systems
  • Design civil earthworks (including general grading, ponds, drainage, plant roads, haul roads, mill pads, rail spurs, etc.
  • Design underground utilities (including fire water, potable water, force mains, sanitary sewer for mine and heavy industrial facilities)
  • Design surface run facilities including pipelines

Skills / Qualifications

  • Diploma in Civil Technology
  • at least 2 years’ of experience of civil design in earthworks, underground and surface utilities
  • Ability to produce 3D civil drawings using CAD software using  AutoCAD Civil 3D or Microstation) 
  • Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
