Our Permitting team is accountable for the negotiation, application and acquisition of special permits for integrity, growth & maintenance projects.

As part of the System Improvement team you will be supporting numerous internal clients and be involved in a wide range of projects requiring permits; balancing agency requirements with project requirements. This position requires someone who is self-motivated, and result oriented. You must be a collaborative team player that is adaptable and flexible in your approach such that you are able to change focus quickly when required.

What You Will Do

  • Accountable for the timely analysis and validation of permit requests.

  • Collect all necessary requirements for a permit applications to provincial, federal once permits received, accountable for accurate entry and documentation into the required database system.

  • Primary point of contact for internal client groups and external agencies regarding all permit inquiries; providing direction on permit application processes and procedures; (including agency expectations) through day to day communications and permit training sessions and private agencies in order to obtain necessary documentation (permits and approvals).

  • Promoting strong working relationships with internal client groups and agencies at staff level through ongoing positive interactions and communications to foster and preserve relationships.

Who You Are

You have the following education & experience:

  • Related university degree, diploma or professional land certification and limited previous experience OR five or more years of permitting experience in senior level administrator role.

  • Working knowledge of Conservation Authority regulations and Ontario Water Resources act regulations.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and to work with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent organization skills and positive professional performing highly independent, technical and coordination work.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively in a team environment.

  • Computer skills using Microsoft Office products.

  • Valid driver’s license.

Following are the preferred skills:

  • Previous utility, natural gas pipeline or construction experiences.

  • Real estate and or legal background.
