Intermediate or Senior Experiential Graphic Designer

Our firm offers non-traditional solutions and creativity to every problem—the results of deep collaboration between disciplines and clients.

Our studio consists of communication designers, exhibit & interpretive designers, architects, interior designers, landscape architects, and urban planners.

Together, these professions give strategic guidance, create engaging concepts, boost your brand presence, and oversee small and large projects from planning, to conceptual design through to constructed works.

Fathom’s graphic and brand discipline (one of our four disciplines) collaborate on a wide range of graphic communication projects from signage and wayfinding master plans, to place branding strategies, interpretive and exhibit plans, tourism plans and even strategic plans that celebrate special places.

About you You’re an intermediate to senior-level graphic designer with experience in environmental graphic design.

You are passionate about the world of graphic design but you are equally versed in communicating complex strategies, and master plans, navigating a world where many voices must be heard and people need to feel engaged and heard.

You have the uncanny ability to take complexity and make it simple to understand.

Your design is inspired by the spirit of place, and fits with the unique environments you are designing within.

You are a born story-teller and you use your ability to simplify complexity to embed meaning into every design.

Most importantly, you’re comfortable with client and project management and collaborating on a diverse team, in some cases with designers and planners in various fields.

What you bring to the table a degree in graphic design (or a related graphic communication field like interpretive design, interior design, architecture, or industrial design) the ability to design in 2D and 3D and to communicate complex information at least 4 years experience as a designer and consultant proven project management experience leading interdisciplinary project teams exceptional written and communication skills including report and proposal writing experience working for a wide range of public and private sector clients you’re an expert in Adobe InDesign and the other suite of Adobe CC tools ability to travel outside Nova Scotia and are eligible for a NS drivers license self-motivated and independent but love collaborating Useful extras you may have experience with signage and wayfinding systems design, exhibit design, or interpretive planning experience with 3D modelling tools such as Sketchup, AutoCAD, Revit, or other 3D platforms experience in stakeholder or public consultation fluent in French Terms of employment start date: February 2021 40 hours/week, permanent full-time position salary commensurate with experience medical/dental plan professional development incentives are available (training and licensing) applicants must be eligible to work within Canada upon start To apply Email your cover letter, resume and portfolio (or a link) to with “experiential graphic designer” and your name in the subject line.
