Transportation Infrastructure Coordinator – MiWay

Job Summary


Reporting to the Supervisor, Transit Infrastructure Management the position will manage facility rehabilitation and expansion projects, drive capital budget requests and develop, implement and administer the MiWay Infrastructure Asset Management Plan and the associated capital renewal plan strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Manage MiWay facility rehabilitation and expansion projects in coordination with the Facilities Property Management team;
  • Develop and implement MiWay’s Infrastructure Asset Management Plan for on-street infrastructure, facilities and terminals and identify processes to ensure optimization of MiWay’s assets, including the management of data and associated analysis;
  • Develop and maintain detailed inventory and condition assessment processes for MiWay’s infrastructure that include condition assessments, careful evaluation of work performed and following through with approved recommendations;
  • Co-ordinate construction/maintenance facility projects with internal departments, contractors, supervisors, inspectors as required;
  • Lead design review and construction coordination for MiWay capital projects;
  • MiWay representative on construction facility projects;
  • Contribute to the development of MiWay’s capital program based on growth requirements and asset efficiencies;
  • Provide functional guidance to the Transit Infrastructure Technologists for the implementation of asset management and capital program plans;
  • Provide technical guidance and training to co-op students, provide quality assurance/quality control for field monitoring and site evaluation activities and assist with performance evaluation and hiring;
  • Assist in the preparation of departmental reports;
  • Respond to customer complaints and enquiries relating to transit infrastructure;
  • Proactively attend to all Health & Safety issues;
  • Liaise with staff in Works and Operations, Facilities and Maintenance and various City Departments to ensure collaborative and effective use of City resources;
  • Respond to transit infrastructure related incidents, which may occur outside of regular operating hours;
  • Undertake research on new and current technologies, methods and approaches towards the management of all transportation-related assets, provide recommendations and initiate changes following approval; and
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications


  • Post-secondary graduate from a recognized university with a degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related engineering program and a registered P. Eng. designation in good standing with the PEO (or eligibility), or a graduate from a Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering Technology or related Applied Science Technology program with a C.E.T. designation in good standing with OACETT (or eligibility);
  • 5-8 years of progressive municipal maintenance and construction experience, or the equivalent combination of education and directly related work experience;
  • Municipal transportation/transit asset management experience related to the development of asset management programs, needs studies, large scale condition assessment programs and multi-year capital program development;
  • Ability to effectively co-ordinate, direct and supervise the activities of various construction contracts assigned;
  • Strong computer skills/aptitude in office software (i.e. Excel, Word, Power point) and Microstation (or AutoCAD), databases and transit specific applications;
  • Demonstrated leadership potential to supervise contractors;
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills to effectively deal with residents, contractors, developers, utility companies, external agencies and other stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated tact and diplomacy when dealing with the public and elected officials;
  • Effective decision making and problem solving skills with the ability to determine an effective course of action that drives progression;
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing tasks;
  • A proven ability to lead meetings and discussions, prepare presentations, represent the section, division or department at public meetings;
  • Excellent analytical and decision making skills matched by strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required; and
  • A current valid Class G driver’s license, possession of a clean driving record and have the ability to travel within various City sites.


Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 80,638.00 – $ 107,518.00
