Maintenance Mechanic


This is a Contract position in Etobicoke, ON posted August 27, 2020.

Calling all maintenance mechanics!

Our client, a leading manufacturing in pharmaceutical packaging, is looking for a maintenance mechanic for an immediate start on DAYS. (7am – 315pm)

The maintenance mechanic would be responsible for repairing, and maintaining, machinery such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines / equipment.

Some of the duties are

– Observing mechanical devices in operation and listening to sounds made to locate source of problems
– Dismantling devices in order to gain access to and remove defective parts
– Examining form and texture of parts to detect any imperfections
– Inspecting used parts to determine any changes in dimensional requirements
– Adjusting functional parts of both devices, and control instruments
– Repairing or replacing defective parts, installing functional and structural parts in devices + lubrication and cleaning
– Testing devices performance
– Setting up and operating Lathe, Drill Press, Grinder, and other metalworking tools to both fabricate and repair parts
– Initiating purchase orders for parts and machines
– Repairing electrical equipment

– Ability to perform each duty successfully
– Millwright license (433a) or equivalent combination of experience and training
– Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance manuals, and procedure manuals
– Strong oral and written communication
– Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
– Able to apply concepts such as fractions percentages, ratios, proportions etc to practical situations
– Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in limited standardization scenarios
