Environmental Compliance and Real Estate Specialist – EH&S

This is a Contract position in Mississauga, ON posted August 20, 2020.

The Opportunity

This role is responsible for overseeing the environmental performance of the organisation and for monitoring environmental strategies that support sustainable development.

The Role

  • Conduct virtual environmental compliance audits
  • Monitor and report on environmental activities
  • Coordinate on site activities for environmental site assessments (Phase I and II’s) and other environmental projects.
  • Oversee and supervise the work of environmental contractors
  • Act as the primary contact with environmental regulators
  • Ensure all environmental recordkeeping, monitoring and reporting requirements for Wajax are accurate, complete and timely
  • Ensures all environmental legal requirements are met or exceeded by staying informed about changes in laws and regulations
  • Develops and maintains environmental programs as needed
  • Maintain the list of environmental aspects / impacts and the environmental profile for each branch
  • Assist branches to maintain compliance on environmental matters such as above and below ground storage tanks, oil/water separator, chemicals storage, hazardous waste disposal, etc.

The Candidate

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or a related field.

Bilingual in English/French considered an asset

Work Experience:4-5 years

Knowledge: Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and demonstrated ability to work with other software (i.e. KMI)
ability to build and maintain relationships with governing bodies.
