The Chemistry Stockroom is part of the Department of Chemistry and is a dynamic, frontline warehouse environment that services the material needs of 600 faculty and staff and 800 graduate students, as well as 7,500 undergraduate students per year. We pride ourselves in offering exceptional service to our clients in support of the University’s common goal to Improve Life through knowledge, research, and experiential learning.

Reporting to the Chemistry Stockroom Manager, the Stockroom Support Technician will be responsible for; receiving; shipping; stocking shelves; order picking; inventory maintenance; data entry and filing. The handling, storing, dispensing and shipping of hazardous materials makes up a large portion of the work.

Requirements of the position include:

  • Secondary School graduation (one year college diploma in supply chain logistics or related field preferred) plus 1 year of related experience working in a shipping/receiving and storage warehouse environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Work experience that involves handling, storing, dispensing & shipping hazardous products.
  • Intermediate computer skills: Familiarity with Inventory management systems, courier shipping software and Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Strong understanding of WHIMIS
  • Attention to protocol and procedure is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Exceptional time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload with the needs of the operation.
  • Criminal background check required.
  • This job involves frequent lifting and a diverse range of motions for a wide variety of activities.

Normal Hiring Range $23.36 – $26.11 per hour
