Marie Innovation Centreis seeking a Manager of Finance and Administration.

This is a permanent position.

The Manager Finance and Administration, under the direction of the Executive Director, will primarily be responsible to lead both accounting and administrative controls and prepare reports for the management team regarding corporate compliance and internal policies and procedures.

This position will facilitate any auditing conducted by third parties to ensure effective resolution and swift closure of auditing activities.

This role will also ensure the organization utilizes ethical accounting practices and standards.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Financial Planning and ManagementAssess both accounting and administrative controls and prepare reports for the management team regarding corporate compliance and internal policies and proceduresFacilitate any auditing conducted by third parties to ensure effective resolution and swift closure of auditing activitiesEnsure the organization utilizes ethical accounting practices and standardsInvestigate variances in budgets, reporting, internal controls, and general accounting; deploy measures to resolve variancesWork with department managers to track and monitor all funding programs and grants; ensure allreporting and submissions are timely and accurateCoordinate activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and delegating work accordinglyAnalyze variable costs and make budget adjustments as appropriateCoordinate financial activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting, payroll, special projects accounting, financial planning, and reportingResponsible for preparation of the overall organizational operating budgetMonitor applicable legislation, regulations, policies, procedures, and operations, and ensure complianceReport any and all inconsistencies in corporate strategy in order to improve financial performance and adjust company policy accordinglyTranslate strategic goals into practical actionsEnsure that all employees comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standardsProvide employee training, ensuring that all applicable compliance requirements are metProvide training, coaching, and mentoring to subordinate employees regularly and as necessaryPlan the department’s workload and flowSupervise and assist in the development and maintenance of accounting files and recordsWork with the Executive Director and management to secure adequate funding for the operation of the organizationApprove expenditures within the authority delegated by the BoardAdminister the funds of the organization according to the approved budget and monitor the monthly cash flow of the organizationProvide the Board with comprehensive regular reports on the revenues and expenditures of the organizationEnsure the organization complies with all legislation covering taxation and withholding paymentsAttend Board meetings to present monthly and year-end financial statements and provide updates on administrative issuesHuman Resources Planning and ManagementDetermine staffing requirements for organizational management and program deliveryOversee the implementation of human resources policies, procedures and practices including the development of job descriptions for all staffEstablish a positive, healthy and safe work environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulationsAssist with recruitment and selection of staff that have the right technical and personal abilities to help further the organization’s missionEnsure that all staff receive an orientation to the organization and appropriate training is providedImplement a performance management process for all staff which includes monitoring the performance of staff on an ongoing basis and conducting an annual performance reviewCoach and mentor staff as appropriate to improve performanceDiscipline staff when necessary using appropriate techniques; release staff when necessary using appropriate and legally defensible proceduresSKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:A university degree or advanced degree in business administration, management, finance, accounting, or a related field plus a current CPA designation Demonstrated knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices, tax laws, and reporting requirementsAdvanced proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheet programs and applicationsPrevious experience assessing the performance of financial department employeesWell-developed coaching and leadership skills, both on a formal and informal basisKnowledge of standard office procedures and practicesAbility to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret goals, objectives, and policiesSound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skillsGood knowledge of the Employee Standards Act7 to 10 years related work experienceHuman Resources Management Certification an assetWhy choose employment in Sault Ste.
