What will your typical day look like?


The Operations M&A Manager plays a key role in supporting our clients’ operations-related initiatives throughout the M&A lifecycle. Managers will collaborate with senior leaders, manage junior practitioners, and contribute to the firm’s growth and development in a variety of ways:

  • Engagement management: Scope and plan engagements; manage engagement economics and risks; manage engagement teams; develop deliverable structure and content; ensure exceptional outcomes are achieved
  • Stakeholder management: Establish and sustain long-term relationships with top decision makers at key clients
  • Practice development and eminence: Create practical solutions and methodologies; develop “thoughtware” and “point of view” documents; support industry and eminence events sponsored by the firm
  • Talent development: Develop high performing people and teams by coaching junior practitioners; provide input into project staffing; support recruiting activities
  • Develop core offering expertise: Leverage expertise in M&A and Operations offerings to support sales pursuits and marketplace eminence
  • Sales and business development: Participate in business development activities; manage pursuit teams; support proposal development

About the team


Deloitte’s M&A Consulting practice delivers comprehensive consulting services and comprises Strategy, Operations, Finance, Human Capital, and Technology experts. Our practitioners are involved in all phases of the M&A lifecycle, including: strategy, due diligence, operational readiness, pre- and post-close integration/separation planning and execution, and follow-on transformation.

Our Operations M&A team supports our clients throughout the entire deal lifecycle. This range of services includes: conducting M&A readiness reviews; operating model assessment & design; organization restructure; strategic cost reduction; infrastructure rationalization/separation.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you


As a Manager, you have:

  • A bachelor’s degree with 6+ years (or a master’s degree with 5+ years) of relevant experience in a similar role in consulting or industry
  • 2+ years of team lead or management experience
  • Relevant certifications such as an engineering degree or MBA
  • Strong analytical skills, a fluency in Microsoft Excel, and the ability to create complex financial models
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with ambiguous and changing requirements
  • A willingness and ability to travel up to 80% of the time
  • Experience working in the following industries:
    • Financial services
    • Energy, resources, and industrials
    • Technology, media, and telecommunications
    • Airlines, transportation, and aerospace
    • Consumer

    Experience in

    Delivering M&A or transformation projects, accompanied by deep Operations expertise, including:

    • Target operating model design & implementation
    • Organization design and transition
    • Cost reduction/synergy identification & realization
    • Identifying key client issues, determining client needs, evaluating and validating analyses, and developing recommendations
    • Cross-functional project management, contingency planning, and Day 1 planning to help execute large Operations projects for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures
    • Guiding clients on key concepts for M&A engagements including stranded cost analyses, business continuity during transformation, and synergy identification and capture
    • Supporting corporate and private equity clients in developing and assessing M&A strategies, potential merger synergies and carve-outs, and stand-alone performance improvements
