Your opportunity

Our GTA office is looking for a Manager, Application Development & Managed Services to join our growing Managed Services team. The Managed Services Practice is one of the fasted growing practices within the BDO Consulting group, centered on building deep customer relationships and providing superior customer service.


The practice includes several service offerings including:

  • Application Services: Providing our customers with enterprise tier support services to support, maintain and enhance the solutions that we have built or inherited.
  • Data Services: Providing our customers with advanced data services, whether it be around data operations, governance or consulting.
  • Cloud Services: Enabling our customers with their cloud journey through cloud roadmapping, migrations and licensing.
  • IT Services: Assisting our customers with traditional IT needs including monitoring, support & maintenance of servers, network and other IT assets.
  • DevOps Services: Providing advanced DevOps capabilities such as deployment pipeline automation, security enhanced CI / CD and monitoring capabilities.
  • Cybersecurity Services: Providing security & vulnerability assessments, penetration testing and MDR services to our customer base


The Opportunity


As part of our fast paced growing Managed Service practice, you would be engaged with our team as a Technical Manager leading a group of technical consultants. The primary focus of this role is to provide technical leadership across our customers as well as leading the delivery & technical innovation within the practice and mentoring the technical consultants within the team. The ideal candidate in this role should be passionate about technology, servicing customers and helping team members develop into future leaders.




  • Delivery:
    • Design and architect changes to solutions that are running in a production state
    • Creation of technical artifacts including technical design, configuration and deployment documentation
    • Execute on activities with the highest level of quality on time and on budget
    • Assist where needed on diagnostics and troubleshooting of production issues
    • Drive innovation in engagements to either improve efficiency or to drive value for the customer
    • Manages and appropriately escalates delivery impediments, risks, issues, and changes
    • Assigns and monitors work of technical personnel, ensuring that application development and deployment is done in the best possible way, and implements quality control and review systems throughout the development and deployment processes
  • Growth:
    • Estimate on new requests / requirements as and when required
    • Contribute to proposals inclusive of Statement of Works and Change Requests
    • Identify and refer potential opportunities with Clients
    • Develop and contribute to Thought Leadership material
    • Participate in industry and other networking events
    • Client Experience:
      • Demonstrate deep understanding of Client’s business
      • Engage with Clients to discuss and drive remediation plans in the scenario of incidents
      • Engage with Clients to discuss new requirements and technical solutions in the scenario of new requests
      • Presenting and consulting with Clients as and when required
      • Working with the team to proactively identify Client needs and serve our Clients
      • Operations:
        • Creation and refinement of Development & DevOps processes
        • Creation / updates to Standard Operating Procedures
        • Effective utilization of existing development tools and advancement of current toolsets to drive either new services or efficiency
        • Collaborate with peers to effectively transition projects from delivery to support
        • Proactive approach to finding solutions and managing problems.
        • Proactively identify areas for improvement, seek solutions and make recommendations
        • Leadership & Talent:
          • Exercise leadership through superior technical and domain knowledge while leading by example
          • Remain up to date of relevant technologies, both current and future.
          • Performance Management of technical staff i.e. coaching and mentoring (inclusive of career path guidance)
          • Effective forecasting, planning and utilization of technical resources
          • Drive efficiency of execution by the team across both incident and request scenarios
          • Alignment of the technical team to established Standard Operating Procedures and best practices

            Your experience and education


            • Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology is preferred
            • A track record as a coach, mentor, and developer of talent
            • Working experience and proven knowledge in the following areas:
              • Developing and supporting web-based or mobile enterprise applications
              • Developing within the .NET environment, 3.5+, Web API, and MVC, and Web Services.
              • SQL Server 2012 & above, ADO.NET, EF, ORM patterns
              • JavaScript, JQuery, and frontend frameworks such as Angular JS, Backbone, and Knockout JS.
              • Languages: C#, SQL/T-SQL, JavaScript, VBScript, HTML, XML
              • Design methodologies, patterns and practices
              • Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment
              • DevOps and Monitoring Tools
              • Azure or equivalent Cloud environments
            • An ability to quickly identify and drive to the optimal solution when presented with a series of constraints
            • Demonstrated ability in people management, strategic planning, risk management, change management, and project management
            • Excellent judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
            • Experience working with quality management approaches, techniques, and principles
            • Full understanding of software development lifecycle best practices
            • Self-motivated individual with the ability to multi-task and excellent time management skills
            • An ability to drive to big picture goals and milestones while valuing and maintaining a strong attention to detail
            • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, relationship building skills, and ability to achieve results
            • Excellent written and oral communication skills
            • Strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high quality work, both personally and at a team level
