Data Analyst – 2021 Summer Student


This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted February 3, 2021.

During the course of the work term you agree that you will be working from a remote / home office location in Canada in accordance with any applicable RBC policy.  You confirm that you have the capability to work from a remote / home location in Canada.

What is the opportunity? 

Canadian Banking Operations (CBO) resides within Personal and Commercial Banking (P&CB) and supports fulfillment of client requests from branches and business banking centers. CBO’s service centers support P&CB with dedicated resources and subject matter experts across Canada and in our National Office. Working in CBO’s National Office as a Data Analyst, you provide valuable business insights.

What will you do?

– Work with large data sets (both structured and unstructured) across multiple source systems for extraction, processing, exploration and analysis
– Support creation of predictive models, evaluate and refine models based on business inputs

– Develop options and present recommendations to various stakeholders to drive and support change in a continuously evolving environment

– Data gathering and manipulation techniques and database querying

– Technical documentation of modeling, and leverage enterprise tools to document metadata for multiple systems

– Assist with design and creation of high-level dashboard reports for use by various business groups and executives
– Assess data integrity and/or consistency

What do you need to succeed?
Must haves:

– Experience working with databases, SQL, Python, or R for programming

– Strong MS Office skills – Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel (including Macros, Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP)

– Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

– Demonstrate strong competencies in collaboration, attention to detail, and time management

– Strong critical thinking & creative problem solving skills with the ability to influence & impact

Nice to have:

– Experience or conceptual knowledge of application development lifecycle and services

– Experience in Incident and Problem Management (processes and tools) as well as Quality Assurance

– Experience with Hadoop Data Lake and/or Tableau

– Knowledge of Agile methodology
