Job DescriptionBenmet Steel & Metal is a full-serviceprocessor of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, centrally located in Guelph and Stratford.

We have remained one of the most established, reputable, independent, and trusted processors of recycled metals in Canada for over 50 years.

Founded in 1956, Benmet Steel & Metal’s roots are in recycling, brokerage and all aspects of the scrap metal and steel industry.

Due to our team’s extensive experience and commitment to integrity and superior service, we have become one of Ontario’s fastest growing scrap metal recycling companies.

We are looking to add to our growing team at our Head office in Guelph a Business Controller.

Reporting to the President, you will be responsible for financial management including budget preparation, cash, financial forecasting, reporting, asset control, investments, reporting, analyzing, cost accounting, and advising the senior management team on financial results and operating plans.

Working with the Finance Team you will establish, implement and maintain appropriate accounting systems, enforce internal control and develop best practices for auditing and reporting.

Qualifications for this position are:* Undergraduate degree/diploma in accounting or finance – professional accounting designation preferred (CPA, CA, CGA, or CMA); * A minimum of fiveyears’ relevant experience in financial accounting, analysis and reporting; CRA filings not limitedto HST, WSIB, EHT, T4/T5’s.* Minimum 3 years financial performance management, cost variance analysis, preparation of monthly reports and attention to cost savings* Previous managerial experience within an accounting capacity managing a small team of employees.* Experience with creating financial statements.* Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/quarter/year end close process.* Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.* Good knowledge of GAAP and Canadian tax legislation; * Strong numerical and analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail; * Strong computer skills Proficient in QuickBooks Pro Desktop and advanced ability with MS Office and Excel; * Excellent communication, well organized, critical thinker, and strong leadership abilities; * Able to work independently or as part of a team; * Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.

Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
